Your spirit is alive:

Matthew 22:32
32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”

Mark 12:27
27 “He is not the God of the dead, but of the living; you are greatly mistaken.”

Romans 8:9-11
9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
10 If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

We don’t serve a dead God, and we don’t have a dead Savior. Those who died in Him are not really dead. This tells you that He is the God of the living. If He is the God of the living Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who were not born again, is He not the God of the living believers who have gone on before us?
Sometimes Christians live like they are still in the flesh … that they haven’t been born from above. But this says that we’re not in the flesh. We’re in the Spirit because the Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us. Our spirit is alive because of the righteousness of Jesus in us. We should be living like it. People should be able to tell the difference between the way we live and the way unbelievers live.
We can also be certain that though this mortal body may die, His Spirit will give that body life because He dwells in us. Hallelujah!

If you could hear God speak, I believe this is what He would say:
"Your spirit is alive to Me, My children. You are not mere robots, but rather you are My friends. You desire to please Me because of My Spirit who indwells you. Your desire is to do My will because your spirit has been reborn of My Spirit. My Spirit desires to walk in holiness and so your spirit desires to walk in holiness. Trust in My Spirit to guide you into the paths of righteousness; for He will not turn to the side, but will only walk in the path that I have chosen for you. You are victorious in Me. You shall not fail as long as you trust in Me to guide into the paths of righteousness.”

            54. He is not just my God when I die. He is my God while I am still alive. Not only am I alive in the flesh, my spirit is also alive in Him.

Dead or Alive:

            Died to sin:

Colossians 3:3
3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Romans 6:2
2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

We died when He died. Your old man is dead. We shouldn’t still be living in sin. That doesn’t mean we won’t ever sin, but that we won’t be living in it. It won’t be a continual part of our life. Our life is hidden with Him in God. All that matters is with Him. I know the things of this life seem the most important right now, but they’re not. Our relationship with Him is all that matters in the end.

If you could hear God speak, I believe this is what He would say:
"You are not your own, little children. You are Mine and you should act like Me. You should walk in My light and My life. If you follow after Me, you shall never sin. You cannot fall when I hold onto your hand. Trust in Me to lift you up above the things of the world. I will show you how to walk in My holiness. Trust in Me to do it. You cannot do it under your own power, but you must have My power to walk in righteousness.”

            53. I have died to sin and it is no longer master over me. My life is hidden with Christ in God.

Answered Prayer:

            Jesus’ name … will do:

John 14:13
13 “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Whatever we ask in Jesus’ name, He will do. That’s saying a lot. Of course, He’s not talking about just any old thing that we ask. We need to know what is in the Word so that what we ask is according to the Father’s will. However, if we don’t ask, we won’t receive. And we must ask in faith. If we’ve diligently sought His will and we’re still not sure, we should ask anyway. He’s not going to answer some request that is not according to His will.

If you could hear God speak, I believe this is what He would say:
"Do not think that I will turn My back on your requests. I delight in doing your requests when you ask according to My will. You shall have whatever you ask as long as you are seeking My will in your life. As you allow Me to have full control in your life, then you shall ask according to My will and you shall have that which you ask of Me. Do not hesitate to ask. You cannot have unless you ask. Do not delay in making your requests known to Me, and I will quickly listen to your cry and will quickly answer your requests.”

            52. Whatever I ask in Jesus’ name, I am confident that He will do.

Chapter 6

Results in Your Life

We should be seeing things happen in our lives. These destinies shouldn’t just be a wish list. They should be operating on a daily basis. If we don’t know what they are, we can’t activate them in our day-to-day affairs. Let’s look at some of those things that should be part of our inheritance in our lives here on earth.

Overcoming:

            Reign in life:

Romans 5:17
17 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

We’re to reign in life. Many Christians are living on barely get along street. However, we are supposed to reign. It is because of this abundance of grace and gift of righteousness that we are to reign. We didn’t just get enough grace to slip into the back door of Heaven. We received an abundance of grace … more than enough to meet our every need. That is so we can share it with others who are in need. Stop living like you’re part of the dregs of society. Walk with your head up. You’re royalty through what Jesus did … now reign!

If you could hear God speak, I believe this is what He would say:
"My children, you shall reign in life! It’s not just some point in the future, but now here on Earth. You were not created to be the tail. You were created to be the head. My Church shall be victorious, and you shall reign here on Earth. You shall be what you believe yourself to be. If you believe that you are defeated, that is what you will be. If you believe that you are victorious and you act like you are victorious, then you shall be victorious here and now. Do not listen to those who would tell you that you are nobody and defeated. You are victorious. I do not create anything that is defeated. I only create that which is victorious.”

            51. My blessings are not just for the future when Christ returns. They are for the here and now. I will not just barely get along in life; I will reign in life.

Builds you up and gives you the inheritance:

Acts 20:32
32 “And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

He doesn’t give us His Word to tear us down, but rather to build us up. He wants strong, confident believers, not whipped and defeated ones. When we are built up in His Word, We can confidently access our inheritance in this life. We don’t have to wait till we die … we won’t need it so much then.

If you could hear God speak, I believe this is what He would say:
"You will not succeed apart from My Word. It is My Word that will bring about victory and peace for you. You cannot fail when you walk in My Word; for it is My Word that brings peace and prosperity. You will be more than conquerors when you walk in My Word. It will make you stand firm in the times of distress. You will not soon be shaken if you stay strong in My Word; for apart from it you cannot succeed.”

            50. The Word of His grace builds me up and gives me the inheritance among all of us who are sanctified.

We can trust God’s Word to tell us the truth about our destiny. However, we won’t know what our destiny is unless we read His Word to find out what is supposed to be operating in our lives.
