Sanctifies us in the truth of His Word:
John 17:17-20
17 “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
18 “As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into
the world.
19 “For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also
may be sanctified in truth.
20 “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also
who believe in Me through their word;
How is this sanctification worked
out in our lives? Through His Word is how. As we read and follow His Word, our
souls come into line with what He says about us … we are sanctified. As long as
we follow His Word, we will be safe. That’s because His Word is truth. There is
a difference between being true and being truth.
Sometimes as I am working a problem
on the board, I will tell my students that such and such is true, but it’s not
correct. Yes it is true that 2 + 3 = 5,
but if you’re supposed to be multiplying 2 and 3, then it’s not correct. A book
can have nothing but true statements, and yet leave out a lot of necessary
things that are also true. In other words, the statements are necessary in
order to get the whole truth. Remember the witness’ oath … do you swear to tell
the truth; the whole truth; and nothing but the truth. God’s Word tells us the
whole truth. We may not be able to understand all of it at this moment, but
it’s there if we will accept it.
Jesus sanctified Himself that we
might be sanctified in truth. He sanctified Himself, but we need help. We need
the Holy Spirit working through His Word to enable us to work out our
sanctification in our daily lives.
If you could hear God speak to you, I believe this is what
He would say:
"You
are made whole through My Word. My Word will make you complete as walk in it.
It will show you the way to walk as I would have you walk. You are to be
perfect, for I am perfect. You are to be holy for I am holy. As you walk in the
holiness of My Word, you will become what I have intended for you to be. You
will see Me as I am if you walk in My Word. You will become as I am and will
bring others unto Me. Show Me that you love Me by walking in My Word. Then you
will become as your Father is.”
71. I have been
sanctified by Jesus’ sanctifying Himself. I am being sanctified in my daily
life by the Holy Spirit through the Word of His truth.
